For eight years, Leslye Scott has been spearheading a personal project to purchase a Christmas Box Angel Statue to reside at Owensboro Memorial Gardens.

Her passion project, as Glenn Peyton Taylor of Owensboro Memorial Gardens calls it, has finally arrived in Owensboro and has been installed at Owensboro Memorial Gardens for the dedication ceremony on Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.

The Christmas Box Angel Statue idea originates from the book and movie, “The Christmas Box” by Richard Paul Evans.

Though the story is mostly fiction, in the book, a woman mourns the loss of her child at the base of an angel monument. Currently there are over 200 statues nationwide.

The statue will be maintained by Glenn Funeral Home and will be available for anyone in the community who has lost a child to visit.

Owensboro Memorial Garden’s Dedication of The Angel of Hope will include guest speakers, a poem reading, a moment of silence and the opportunity for attendees to leave a long-stemmed white rose at the base of the statue in remembrance.
