According to Keith Todd, Public Information Officer for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, crews in the 11 counties of District 2 have personnel out patrolling for potential slick spots. Flurries across the region have become more organized than expected, evolving into a number of strong snow squalls that are causing snow to accumulate along some area highways.

Crews across District 2 pre-treated bridges and overpasses this morning to prepare for overnight flurries. Pavement temperatures have generally held above the freezing mark. Supervisors are on the road checking for potential trouble spots and are prepared to call in crews if required.

All crews have trucks loaded with salt and prepared to roll on short notice.

Motorists are advised to slow down and use appropriate caution when they encounter areas where the snow squalls have left significant accumulation. During the last hour, radar indicated strong snow squalls in the Henderson, Owensboro, Calhoun, and Central City areas.

Kentucky Highway Crews will continue to monitor the snowfall during the overnight hours and respond to those areas where snowfall is heavy enough to overcome pavement temperatures.

Updates as appropriate.
