Rob Barnett has had a busy few weeks. After taking over as Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport director on Nov. 26, he has learned the ins and outs of his new job and is looking forward to 2019.

“I am quickly adapting to the new environment and I remind myself everyday that once you have seen one airport, you have seen one airport — because they are all different,” he said. “I am impressed by the airport staff and their level of dedication to constantly look for ways to improve the airport and better the passenger experience.”

With recently announced additional flights to and from Orlando, Fla., starting in May, Barnett is looking forward to all of the changes the new year will bring.

“The recent addition of Allegiant flights is very exciting and I would encourage the community to take full advantage of the increased frequencies,” he said. “We are very fortunate to have Allegiant Airlines servicing our community. The added service will generate very positive effects on the airport in terms of increased passengers and operations.”

He said he is also looking forward to growing the airport and improving the infrastructure and its facilities.

“I am excited to see the community support the airport and the airlines that provide service to this region and I look forward to working on future options for expanding air service for the community,” Barnett said.

The Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport operates more than 34,000 takeoffs and landings a year. These operations involve military aircraft training, general aviation activities and commercial flights provided by Allegiant Airlines and Cape Air Airlines.
