According to the Owensboro Fire Department, at 10:27 a.m. this morning, OFD, OPD and Yellow EMS responded to the 400 block of Dieterle Drive in reference to a fire in a four-plex apartment.

When OFD first arrived, they found a smoke-filled apartment and a recliner that was fully-involved. Eight units were on scene to ventilate and contain the fire damage to the living room.

According to Battalion Chief Steve Leonard, there was one occupant at home who escaped through the back door, the fire was contained to the one unit, and no one was injured. Red Cross was on scene to assist the residents.

Chief Leonard said, while OFD is still completing their investigation, the fire appears to have been accidental in origin.
