A Special White Flag event has been issued for Friday night due to possible heavy winter precipitation. This event will run from 7 p.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday.

During a White Flag Event, participating homeless shelters are requested to place a white flag on their facility’s exterior door, which shall publicly convey that extra bed space may be available.

The participating shelters include St. Benedict’s Homeless Shelter at 1001 W. 7th Street and the Daniel Pitino Shelter at 501 Walnut Street.

The Daniel Pitino Shelter will be offering breakfast at 8:00 a.m., lunch at 11:00 a.m. and dinner at 5:30 p.m.

What those seeking shelter should know:

You may come to the Daniel Pitino Shelter at 5:30 p.m. Sunday evening to enjoy dinner, and then, if bed space is unavailable at local shelters, go to St. Benedict’s at 7 p.m. for a warm night’s rest.

You may show up on your own at St. Benedict’s any time after 7 p.m. tonight and before 8 a.m. tomorrow.

For those without transportation please contact Harry Pedigo (270-315-4419) before 4 p.m.
