Even Steven sees two thefts in 48 hours totaling $10,000

A convenience store in Owensboro had two thefts on two different occasions, with police reports stating that $10,662.25 was stolen from inside the building. The Even Steven convenience store, which is owned by RN Distributors located at 3400 Old Hartford Rd., filed two separate theft reports with the Owensboro Police Department on Wednesday, Feb. 20.

According to OPD reports, a theft occurred at Even Steven at some point between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. on either Feb. 18 or Feb. 19 and a second theft occurred between 5 p.m. and 7 a.m. on Feb. 19 or Feb. 20.

The first theft report states a total of $3,314.64 was stolen from the convenience store. The second report says $7,347.61 was reported stolen from the store. The OPD report shows that a call was made to dispatch regarding the incidents on Feb. 20 at 11:36 a.m. by an employee at the location.

OPD Public Information Officer Andrew Boggess says an arrest for these thefts has not yet been made, but detectives are working to gather information. Owensboro Times reached out to Even Steven but was unable to reach the owner. It is not yet clear whether Even Steven’s security cameras recorded the incident.

Boggess said cash was stolen from the convenience store on both occasions. The thefts did not involve forced entry or weapons, but a bank deposit bag was taken both times.
