For those staying local for spring break, there are still lots of activities to enjoy. See the full list below to make the most of your staycation.

Daily – April 1-5
Take a trip to one of Owensboro’s many parks. Smothers, Legion, Moreland, Horse Fork Creek and Ben Hawes parks are all open daily and offer lots of fun and adventure for the entire family.

Spring break skating sessions | Edge Ice Center | 1 – 4 p.m.
$4 per person, plus tax – including admission and skate rental.

Tuesday, April 2
Kids in the Kitchen | Owensboro Museum of Science and History | 10:30 a.m.
Become a kid in the kitchen and learn how to make fruit pizza crackers. The Junior League kids in the kitchen presenters will also be discussing demonstrating some great exercises for families.

Wednesday, April 3
Nature Detectives | Owensboro Museum of Science and History | 10:30 a.m.
Join Mary Kissel and other members of the Daviess County Audubon Society and discover the many clues animals leave in the world around us. Wildlife may be closer than you think. Learn about some of the signs they leave behind, such as tracks and scat. Attendees will get to make an animal track craft to take home.

Yellow Banks People | Owensboro Museum of Science and History | 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Join Susan Fowler in the new Native American Gallery as she takes you on a journey through time, sharing stories of “Sun, Moon and Clay.” Take home a clay pot with some special designs.

Family Yoga – ages 3-6 | 270 Power Yoga | 12:30 – 1:15 p.m.
Yoga and fun for the whole family. This 45-minute seasonal class will focus on playful poses perfect for younger children, engaging games, simple breath techniques, partner family poses and a relaxing family savasana.

Family Yoga – ages 7-11 | 270 Power Yoga | 1:30 – 2:15 p.m.
Yoga and fun for the whole family. This 45-minute class is a great fit for the older child who’s ready for a more sequential flow yoga practice. This class includes breath techniques, partner family poses and a relaxing family savasana.

Kinky Boots | RiverPark Center | 7 – 9:45 p.m.
Kinky Boots is Broadway’s huge-hearted, high-heeled hit. With songs by Grammy and Tony winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper, this joyous musical celebration is about the friendships we discover, and the belief that you can change the world when you change your mind.

Thursday, April 4
LIVE Kentucky Woodland Animals | Owensboro Museum of Science and History | 10:30 a.m.
Nurture to Nature will be sharing some of their live Kentucky Woodland animals. Join Kristen Allen as she shares a live owl, raccoon, groundhog, fox, an opossum, flying squirrel and a squirrel.

Yellow Banks People | Owensboro Museum of Science and History | 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Join Susan Fowler in the new Native American Gallery as she takes you on a journey through time, sharing stories of “Sun, Moon and Footwear.” Take home a paper moccasin with some special designs.

Friday, April 5

First Saturday for Kids: “The Potato Sack” | Western Kentucky Botanical Garden | 10 a.m. – noon
This is for kids ages 5-12 with free admission. You must register through the Daviess County Public Library website at DCPLibrary.org under the events tab. Registration is required and open on March 30. Only 20 spots available. Contact 270-993-1234 or email [email protected] with any questions.

Sunset Cruisers Downtown Cruise-In | 3rd and Allen streets | 3 – 7 p.m.

Rosine Barn Jamboree Rosine Barn | 8225 US-62, Horse Branch, Ky., 42349 | 6 -9 p.m.
On the National Register of Historic Places, the Rosine Barn offers live bluegrass music & dancing every Friday night. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Show starts at 7 p.m. For more information contact 270-363-9425.
