What’s old is new again as White Chateau hosts a square dancing event on April 26.

“Square dancing tells you what to do,” said Suzanne Cecil White, of White Chateau and Cecil Farms. “Our target audience is people who don’t know how to do it,” White said. “It will be a fun date night or a family fun night.”

Barry Lanham will call and teach the dance, while the Randy Lanham band plays.

White said the venue will be decorated for the event and she expects some people to be in costume.

“I may even show up with a can-can under my dress,” she said. “I’m all about a theme.”

Miss Kentucky, Katie Bouchard, is the special guest for the night. She’s also expected to showcase some clogging skills.

“The kids love to meet her,” said White. “She’s a clogger, and bonus, she’s a princess!”

The event is made possible by sponsors. Owensboro Health is the primary sponsor, along with Farm Credit Mid-America, Balance Health and Body and Stuart Anderson of Farm Bureau Insurance.

“Every time I watch a video online, I think, ‘Oh, this is gonna be fun,”’ Said White. “I think we’re gonna laugh a lot, just doing something different — not a normal Friday night.”

The doors will open at 6 p.m. at White Chateau, and the dance will go from 7-9 p.m. Concessions will be available and tickets are $15. To get a ticket visit their facebook page here:
