Becca Greenwell, Owensboro Catholic High School and Duke University basketball standout, will return to Owensboro on August 17 to host a skills clinic for children in the second through 12th grades.

“I come back to Owensboro to put it on because I want to give back to the youth in the area,” she said. “Growing up, going to camps over the summer is what helped me develop as a basketball player and ultimately be able to reach my goal of college basketball and the WNBA. I want to offer that same opportunity to kids and let them know that, with hard work and dedication, they can do it too.”

Greenwell scored 17 3-pointers in one game during her senior year at Owensboro Catholic and eight 3-pointers that set a single-game record at Duke. She was drafted in spring 2018 to play in the WNBA for the Washington Mystics, but due to an injury was unable to commit at the time.

The Becca Greenwell Skills Clinic will offer basketball instruction in a fun, learning environment. Through on-court skill instruction, players will have the opportunity to improve the basics of offensive and defensive skills as well as life skills such as teamwork, leadership and self-confidence.

The camp will be held at Owensboro Catholic High School. The cost is $60 per child with discounts available for children in the same family. The first session is scheduled for 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. for boys and girls in grades 2-6. The second session will run from 1 – 4 p.m. for boys and girls in grades 7-12.

“I had 75 campers total last year and hope to see that increase,” Greenwell said. “Only a few boys, but boys are definitely welcome as well.”

Those interested can visit Greenwell’s website for more details.

Greenwell plans to donate a portion of the proceeds back to OCHS.
