According to Owensboro-Daviess County Visitor’s Bureau President and CEO Mark Calitri, officials heard from a Nashville-based developer who is interested in building a mobile Ferris wheel amusement ride shaped like a banjo for downtown Owensboro.

The developer has ties to Owensboro, Calitri said, and spoke to CVB officials Tuesday.

“We are excited that Owensboro is drawing the attention of Nashville developers,” Calitri said.

Calitri said the developer and the CVB will have a community conversation regarding the amusement ride and if Owensboro is ready for expanded tourism.

“He has the capital necessary to build the project,” Calitri said. “He wants to make sure Owensboro is a good fit.”

Calitri said officials are deciding the next step and who needs to take the lead on the project.
