Wendell Foster, a local agency serving people with disabilities, is hosting its second annual First Responders Appreciation BBQ at Wendell Foster’s Sensory Park on Thursday, July 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The lunch was created to honor local first responders in Owensboro and Daviess County.

Owensboro Police Department, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, City and County Fire Departments and EMTs are all invited to the cookout.

In 2018, Wendell Foster treated over 150 first responders with a free lunch and yard games while getting to know the people supported by Wendell Foster.

“We have made this an annual event because our First Responders are invaluable,” said Wendell Foster CEO Eric Scharf. “Serving them lunch shows our appreciation and grows a stronger bond for when we need their services. We are honored to host this event for our local heroes.”

Scharf said the goal of the lunch is to create a fun environment so those in attendance can enjoy one another’s company.

“Wendell Foster is looking forward to honoring the men and women serving our local communities with lunch, games, and fellowship,” he said.

For food ordering purposes, please RSVP by July 18 by calling 270-683-4517 or by email at [email protected]

RSVP is not required to attend.
