Kendall-Perkins Park will soon be getting a makeover, thanks to the volunteer work of one of Owensboro’s neighborhood alliances.
On Friday, the Northwest Neighborhood Alliance will be taking the reins on a beautification project at Kendall-Perkins Park that will involve the planting of several different trees and shrubs across the park’s grounds.
The park, located at 1201 West Fifth Street, will soon boast a variety of crepe myrtle, dogwood and Japanese cherry trees. Shrubbery in the form of azaleas and hydrangeas will also be planted across the park.
The Northwest Neighborhood Alliance will be partnering with Lowe’s Home Improvement of Owensboro for this beautification project.
“We encourage the citizens of Owensboro to help make the northwest neighborhood a better place to live and play,” said Executive Assistant to the Mayor Adrienne Carrico. “The public is invited to attend.”
The project was made possible through the Lowe’s Heroes Program, which “encourages employees in a location to team together, adopt a volunteer project with a local nonprofit organization or K-12 public school and make a difference.”
This project will take place at Kendall-Perkins Park on Friday, Nov. 8 at 9 a.m.
