Atmos Energy, through its Fueling Safe and Thriving Communities program, is donating $1 million to help customers stay warm this winter or weatherize their homes. Atmos Energy will distribute those funds across the eight states it serves in partnership with more than 100 energy assistance agencies and nonprofit organizations.

Of the $1 million donated by Atmos Energy, the Kentucky service areas received $99,500 to help energy assistance. Atmose is still currently operating under the Public Service Commission’s order suspending all non-pay turn offs and waiving late fees. However, that order will end on October 20, 2020.

“Without this vital assistance, many of our Kentucky families would be faced with the impossible choice of choosing between heating their homes and paying for other necessities such as food and medications,” said Kevin Dobbs, Atmos Energy Kentucky/Mid-States Division president. “At Atmos Energy, we are committed to helping our most vulnerable neighbors.”

So, to help those most in need, Atmos is partnering with several agencies in Kentucky. Partnering agencies that recently received a donation from Atmos Energy include:

  • Salvation Army
  • Audubon Area Community Action Agency
  • Pennyrile Allies Community Service
  • West Kentucky Allied
  • Community Action of Southern Kentucky
  • Bluegrass Community Action
  • Owensboro, St Vincent DePaul Charities
  • Owensboro Help Office
  • Hopkinsville, Aaron McNeil House
  • Paducah Cooperative Ministry
  • Paducah Family Service Society
  • Bowling Green BG WC Welfare Center
  • Bowling Green Church United in Christ Ministries
  • Glasgow Next Steps
  • Danville Family Services Association
  • Lawrenceburg Light Center

Atmos Energy customers are also encouraged to reach out to their local community action agency for any possible LIHEAP dollars that may be available to help with their natural gas bills.
