Card designed by Aaron Kizer

The City of Owensboro revealed their 2020 Christmas card during Tuesday’s City Commission meeting. The card — designed and created by local artist and entrepreneur Aaron Kizer for the second year in a row — features a large Christmas tree atop one of the City’s downtown trolleys.

According to Mayor Tom Watson, Kizer’s inspiration for the card — named “Little Full, Lot of Sap” — came from both the holiday film, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” and the chaotic year that has been 2020.

“In the efforts of how crazy 2020 has been — despite Clark Griswald’s dream of the perfect Christmas, everything seems to go wrong,” Watson said. “2020 has been filled with many ups and downs, but we all aspire to have that perfect Christmas holiday with family and friends.”

Kizer designed the City’s Christmas card for the first time last year, taking over a years-long slot that had previously been filled by artist Rex Robinson. Kizer’s 2019 card featured the “Owensbear” in front of the downtown bridge and surrounded by snow.

City of Owensboro Christmas cards are currently being produced and will be available for purchase by mid-November. A press release containing more details will be made available in the near future.
