In celebrating their 65th anniversary, Crosspointe Baptist Church has decided to give back to the community with a free drive-thru food donation Saturday. The event will run from 1-4 p.m. while supplies last. Anyone may pick up food, no questions asked.
According to senior pastor Farrell Isenberg, Crosspointe is hoping to give away about 400 food boxes and bags.
Boxes will include a gallon of milk, a jar of peanut butter and a box of crackers, as well as other items to make a pot of chili. Isenberg said they’ll also have a simple sack lunch, as well as bags specifically for children that will include candy and other small crafts and goodies.
The idea for the donation came in part after a food drive put on by the Owensboro Coalition of Concerned Churches, of which Crosspointe is a member.
“After participating in that first food distribution I just realized how needy it is out there for people not having food,” Isenberg said.
The Coalition, including Crosspointe, is holding a second food drive today at the Owensboro Sportscenter, located at 1215 Hickman Ave., from 2-6 p.m. Those who pick up food should enter the Sportscenter parking lot from Hickman Ave.
Saturday’s event is solely being put on by Crosspointe, located at 550 Worthington Road, Isenberg asked that attendees use the entrance on Worthington Road rather than the one on Lee Rudy Road.
