Daviess County Public Library originally set out to give away three meals from Moonlite Bar-B-Q Inn to local families in need. Due to the generosity of the staff and an anonymous donor, the Library was able to distribute 20 meals instead.

“We are excited to announce that we were able to gift 20 families with Thanksgiving meals,” said Tiffani Henry, Public Relations Coordinator. “This was made possible from the generosity of our staff and a patron that wishes to remain anonymous.”

The contest received over 50 submissions by the community noting families who were in need. The overwhelming response led many of the staff to purchase additional meals on their own to add to the giveaway.

“The first day we released the contest, a patron emailed to ask how they could contribute. That person ended up purchasing six meals for the giveaway,” Henry said. “Our staff then stepped up in a big way and purchased the rest of the additional meals.”

Henry said they were excited to help more families than planned and proud of the staff and the community for helping in the efforts.
