Wendell Foster, a local agency serving people with disabilities, has promoted John Gleason to the role of Vice President of Community Engagement. Gleason was previously the Director of Community Outreach where he conducted the “Respect Starts Now!” program and directed the Wendell Foster Half Marathon.

Gleason, who has been employed at Wendell Foster since 2017, will work to identify and develop community awareness and financial resources that will enhance the quality of services offered at Wendell Foster. His general responsibilities will include fundraising, donor relations, public information, education, and marketing of Wendell Foster and its services.

“I’m honored to receive this opportunity,” Gleason said. “I’m passionate about Wendell Foster’s mission and I look forward to working closely with our community.”

Gleason is a graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan College with a Bachelor’s Degree in business administration. He also serves as president-elect for the Owensboro Kiwanis Club, a board member for the Ambulance Contracting Authority, and deacon at Yellow Creek Baptist Church.

Wendell Foster’s Chief Executive Officer Doug Hoyt said when they have the opportunity to promote from within, they take full advantage.

“Wendell Foster believes in empowering the people we serve and our employees,” he said. “This is an exciting addition and I look forward to introducing John to our many supporters.”
