Daviess County Fiscal Court approved an installation bid Thursday for the all-inclusive playground at Horse Fork Creek Park that will be accessible for both disabled and non-disabled children.

County commissioners approved a bid made by Miracle of KY & TN for $249,591. Fiscal Court received six bids ranging from $249,119 to  $349,203.

Assistant County Treasurer Jordan Johnson said he did not recommend the lowest bid to because of concerns with the layout.

“The low bid’s exception was that the layout included 40% less square footage of stage structuring than we specified,” Johnson said. “Given the small differential of $387.46, we believe the recommended bid provides the greatest value to the Court.”

Fiscal Court will be reimbursed 50% of the total cost of the project, Johnson said.

As noted by Judge-Executive Al Mattingly, Horse Fork Creek Park will become the first all-inclusive playground in Daviess County.

“That’s pretty cool,” he said, “and it’s a long time coming.”
