GRITS providing free transport to COVID-19 vaccine appointments

Audubon Area Community Services/GRITS is providing transportation to COVID-19 vaccination appointments free of charge to anyone who needs a ride. Transport will be provided within the passenger’s home county or to an adjoining county in the agency’s service area.

Passengers must have a confirmed vaccine appointment in order to receive transport. Rides must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. Passengers must have the address of the pick-up point and destination prior to scheduling transport. 

Call the GRITS office at 270-686-1651 or toll free at 800-816-3511 to schedule transportation.

Transportation is available in Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union and Webster counties.

Planned vaccination phases in Kentucky

  • Phase 1A: Long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities, health care personnel
  • Phase 1B: First responders, Kentuckians age 70 or older, K-12 school personnel
  • Phase 1C: Kentuckians age 60 or older, anyone older than 16 with CDC highest-risk conditions for COVID-19, all essential workers
  • Phase 2: Age 40 and older
  • Phase 3: Age 16 and older
  • Phase 4: Children under the age of 16 if the vaccine is approved for this age group (estimated to comprise 18% of Kentucky’s population)
