OCTC organization hosting McKissic for Women’s History event

The local organization Women in Support of Education is hosting Olga McKissic for a virtual event in honor of Women’s History Month. The presentation “Celebrating Black Women Pioneers” is set for 1 p.m. Thursday.

The event will be held via Zoom.

WISE is an organization within the Owensboro Community & Technical College that raises funds and awareness for women’s issues. They award scholarships annually through the OCTC Scholarship Committee.

McKissic was born and raised in Owensboro. She is a graduate of Owensboro High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Spaulding University and a Master of Theology degree from Campbellsville University.

McKissic worked for BellSouth for 30 years and retired as a Corporate Trainer and Sales Team Manager in Business Marketing in Louisville. She then moved into the financial sector and was name the Operations Manager at Marshall Capital Management Group.

In 2015, McKissic moved back to Owensboro. She is currently an associate minister at Fourth Street Baptist Church, serves as the Executive Director of the H.L. Neblett Community Center, and is Director of Western Academy at the Neblett Center.
