In remembrance of Jack Wells on what would have been his 66th birthday, the community has an opportunity to purchase a memento from his estate while also supporting Wells’ vision to support nonprofit organizations in Daviess County.

The project is a partnership between Lance & Co. Jewelers and what will eventually become the Jack T. Wells Charitable Trust.

Lance Embry, owner of the jewelry company, said they’ll be listing several pieces from the Jack Wells Estate, including jewelry, pendants, purses, cufflinks, watches, sunglasses, and more. A section of the store is dedicated to Wells’ items, and a portal will be added to the business website this week so customers can also shop online.

All proceeds will ultimately go toward the Jack T. Wells Charitable Trust. The residual of the Wells’  Estate will be used to establish the trust.

Mike Simpson, co-executor of the Wells’ Estate, said the estate must fully be closed before the trust can be fully established. He said there is no firm timeline on when the trust will be established because the estate is “complicated and extremely large.”

Simpson said Wells was the consummate Owensboro ambassador — he liked to do business in Owensboro with people from Owensboro.

So, Simpson is glad to partner with Embry to provide a chance for the community to honor and remember Wells.

“Jack liked celebrations, so we wanted to celebrate his birthday by letting Owensboro see part of his life,” Simpson said. “He loved to collect things, and we hope that people that knew and loved Jack will show up and maybe purchase something that will be a memento to them.”
