Twin sisters Dianne Dixon Kirkpatrick and Denise Dixon Martin are slated to appear on NBC’s “The Today Show” Thursday morning. The Owensboro natives have been lifelong Donny Osmond fans and will have an opportunity to FaceTime with him during his appearance on the show.

Osmond is scheduled to discuss his upcoming Las Vegas residency, new music, and answer questions from his beloved fans. His segment will be from 10-11:00 a.m. local time, and the sisters are elated at the opportunity to chat with him.

“They sent out a press release saying that ‘Donnie wants to talk to you,’ and that they were going to select three participants to talk to Donnie,” Dianne said. “We submitted questions and a photo and the producer called on Tuesday to gather our backstory.”

The show is co-hosted by Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager and has remained a prominent morning television show since its conception in 1952. After speaking with the two, the producer was intrigued by the story and partial to the fact that they were twins.

The sisters’ parents first took them to see the Osmonds in concert at the Kentucky State Fair in August of 1971, making this their 50-year anniversary of being fans.

“We’ve been fans of the whole Osmond family since we were 13,” Dianne said. “Our parents took us to our seats at the fairground because we were going to be by ourselves. Along with some crew members, we were the only people in the whole stadium when their tour bus appeared. They filed out of the tour bus one-by-one, began throwing frisbees and footballs on the field, and we said, ‘we have got to go meet them!’”

The two marched immediately to the field to introduce themselves and the rest is history.

“They were so nice and humble … Donnie is one of the nicest, kindest, accommodating, and courteous performers you’ll ever meet — he’s just a great guy,” Dianne said. “That’s where the fandom began, and we’ve been fans ever since.”

The two have seen some form of the Osmond family in concert hundreds of times, able to trace pictures from throughout the decades. They had a “walk-through” with the show today at noon in preparation for their big day tomorrow.
