A “Tour of the Parks” event is set to take place in the coming weeks at different community park locations, and it will be focused on engaging community members with local human resource and college representatives to explore career and educational options.

Toyotetsu Mid America (TTMA), Resource MFG, and Owensboro Community and Technical College are partnering to present the event.

The tours will take place over the next four Mondays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Smothers, Moreland, Chautauqua, and Dugan Best park, respectively.

TTMA, Resource MFG, and OCTC representatives will hold on-site job interviews and staff will be on hand to enroll in OCTC for fall classes, or for GED prep classes.

There will be snacks and activities for children, and participants have the option to register for giveaways.

Lindsey Cline with TTMA said that the idea for a Tour of the Parks was designed to potentially reach people who had transportation or child care barriers.

“The ultimate goal is to reach out to the community and make connections because as one of the top five largest employers in the area, we have the ability to truly make a difference,” Clines said.
