It’s all about the sunflowers at Trunnell’s in September, owner Kevin Trunnell said. While Trunnell’s is known to be a family-friendly farm, the owners want to provide something for the parents and a more adult-aged crowd during the month of September.

“We’ve always been 100% family-focused, and it’s been very well received,” Trunnell said. “Families love coming, but we did hear some of the parents and adults saying it’d be really cool if we had just an event for adults on the farm.”

To do so, they are utilizing their four-acre sunflower field and providing live entertainment, concessions and two cash bars at their weekly Sips-N-Sunflowers, starting this Friday with Josh Merrit performing.

Each guest will get a chance to cut one of 100,000 blooms of sunflowers in the field, go on a wagon ride, and pet barnyard animals, among many other attractions on the farm’s property.

Tickets start at $26.99 with all events included. However, the fall celebration doesn’t stop with the sunflower field.

“By the very end of September/first of October the sunflowers will be pretty much over with … but then we try to transition into what we call the ‘fall farm experience’ the whole month of October,” Trunnell said. “We kick that off on Oct. 1 with ‘Wine Your Way Out.’”

Wine Your Way Out will be a corn maze that has wine and bourbon tasting stations throughout. Each guest will get eight tastes included with admission as they wander through the maze.

From there, “Friday Nights on the Farm” will begin providing live entertainment and some focus on the corn maze. On Oct. 29 there will be the Hallowine Bash and Brew adult costume party with some prizes for competitors.

Scattered throughout the fall the events will also be the option for public bonfires.
