City, county parks shelter reservations available for 2022

The city and county Parks & Recreation departments are accepting shelter reservations for 2022.

City of Owensboro shelters
Shelters are available for reservation during the hours of 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily March 31 through Oct. 31. Reservations are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. All reservations must be made a minimum of 14 days in advance.

Shelters can be reserved for up to 4 hours for $35 (plus tax). Each additional hour is an extra $10. With exception, Ben Hawes Park shelters are a flat fee of $60 (plus tax).

Shelters are located at Legion Park, Moreland Park, English Park, Ben Hawes Parks and the gazebos at Cap Gardner Nature Park and Old Germantown Park.

Reservations can be made by calling 270-687-8700 or by visiting the Parks & Rec Administrative Center located at 1530 McJohnson Ave. from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Daviess County shelter reservations
Between Panther Creek Park and Yellow Creek Park, the county offers more than a dozen covered picnic shelters for a wide range of events. 

Shelters are available between April 1 and Oct. 31. To book a space or for questions, call 270-685-6142. Find a list of shelters and rates here.  

Many of the picnic shelters are enclosed with lights and access to a barbecue grill. Nearby amenities include a stocked fishing lake, basketball and volleyball courts, disc golf, playground equipment, and spray parks.
