Ford directing OCTC Chorus for spring concert on May 2

The Owensboro Community and Technical College Chorus will perform a spring concert at 7 p.m. May 2 at Third Baptist Church. The chorus will be under the direction of professor of music Dr. Connie Ford and accompanied by pianist Ann Jeannette Pierce.

Featured composers from the 18th to the 21st centuries programmed works include G. F. Handel, Alice Parker, Victor Johnson, David Dickau, Shawn Kirchner, Howard Helvey, Pablo Casals, Z. Randall Stroope, Thomas A. Dorsey, Gwyneth Walker, and J. A. C. Redford.

The 30-voice chorus — made up of community members along with high school and college students — has presented fall and spring concerts continually since the spring of 1987.

Members of the chorus include Robbin Baughn, Tracey Bivens Helm, Linda Burgess, Beverly Chelgren, Kirby Chelgren, Matthew Constant, Janet Corum, Jeanette Ebelhar, Janet Estes, Mary Goodman, Rick Houston, Rachel Keeley, Sam Koon, Justin Kurz, Carroll Laswell, Leah McDivitt, Bob Meacham, Vicki Meacham, Shannon Muffett, Tristen Muffett, Christie Stumpf, Sr. Sharon Sullivan, Janet Tichenor, Mike Tichenor, Chris Tolliver, Tony Sparks, Wendy Wells, Jim Wilhoyte, and Sarah Worth.

The concert will also feature two OCTC faculty members, Dr. Micah Perkins on electric bass and Danny Huffman on drums.
