Independence Bank and PorchFest OBKY delivered a check for $3,530 to the Taylor Widmer Foundation Thursday afternoon after raising money through T-shirt sales at the summer music festival.

Nick Oller, Bank President, said that partnering with the community in different aspects is what the organization tries its best to do.

When the check was presented to Andrea Widmer and her family, it immediately brought tears to her eyes.

“I’m speechless right now. Thank you Independence Bank. Thank you to the community,” she said. “I realized that this is why we do what we do is to help the different programs and to help give back to the different venues that do need the help and support that maybe they don’t get.”

The Widmer Foundation was started after Taylor Widmer died in a single-vehicle accident nearly 8 years ago on Aug. 7, 2014.

Since then, the Foundation has aimed to support students and the community through the namesake memorial scholarship.

“We’re definitely here for good and this is just another example of how we all come together as partners in this community and continue to give back to our community,” Oller said.
