Brittaney Johnson is resigning from her position as President/CEO of the Greater Owensboro Economic Development Center (GOEDC) at the end of October. A national search will be conducted to find her replacement.

Johnson was named to the position in December 2018. Monday, she said it has been a privilege to lead and represent the organization since then.

“It is impossible to fully express the gratitude I have for a wonderful team and the support that has been shown to me and this organization from investors and community stakeholders,” Johnson said. “When I accepted this role in 2018, I did not know a single person in Daviess County. My family and I have so much pride for this community, and we are proud to call it home. I have been more than blessed with so many meaningful relationships and lifelong friendships, not only in Daviess County, but throughout the state of Kentucky.”

In her role, Johnson has been responsible for helping make Greater Owensboro a desirable destination for larger businesses looking to expand or relocate.

Amy Jackson, GOEDC board chair, said Johnson has led the organization with great outcomes. One of the more notable recent projects Johnson helped ensure came to fruition is bringing the Big Rivers Electric Corp. headquarters to Owensboro — something Jackson said was “one of our big community wins.”

Jackson said Johnson has built a strong team and has been executing on the GOEDC strategic plan with a large pipeline of potential projects in Owensboro.

“We are quite proud of what she’s led us to in the last 3.5 years, and we will make sure that as a board we keep our organization moving forward in accordance with our strategic plan.”

Jackson said the board will execute a national search for Johnson’s replacement.

“We’ll move diligently and in a very disciplined way to make sure we have another energetic, engaged leader to continue to move our organization forward,” Jackson said. “At the time, we don’t plan to name an interim. We are very confident in the ability of the team there, as well as a very engaged board of directors, to help guide us through this time of transition with hopefully a new President/CEO selected early next year.”

Johnson has accepted a position at Big Rivers and will officially begin the new role on October 31.

“It has been a true privilege to work alongside so many wonderful community partners moving the Greater Owensboro community forward,” Johnson said. “I am excited to have the opportunity to continue great work in the Greater Owensboro region and Kentucky in a different capacity for years to come. “
