Terry Pollard, owner of Serene Relief Wellness, said that after seeing the immense amount of burnout that medical staff has during and after the pandemic, he and other massage therapists in the city wanted to offer a week of free massages to give them a chance to relax and refresh.

The free massage services, which includes hour-long massages, will be available from November 1-5 at Serene Relief Wellness. Light snacks will also be provided.

Pollard said he was inspired by seeing the nurses continue to work long shifts at the hospital and put the needs of others first.

“I want to do something great for them. I’ve always wanted to do something amazing for the medical community,” Pollard said.

He said that the stress hospital jobs can have builds up and is stored in the body. Pollard said his clientele at Serene Relief is about 70% nurses.

Through the conversations with them, he has not only been able to learn about the pressures but also aid them in practicing wellness.
