Owensboro Parks and Recreation and The Edge Ice Center will host the Ice Princess Skate this Saturday, offering a two-hour skating event for families with little ones familiar with the Frozen franchise.

The all-too-familiar ice princess and ice queen will be in attendance, interacting and skating with guests and pausing for photo opportunities. The event will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. for children over 3.

“This will be a fun family event for the City of Owensboro and the surrounding areas,” said Recreation Facilities Manager McKenzie May. “There will be several craft activities in our party rooms, and hot chocolate is available at our concession stand. Participants are also encouraged to dress up as their favorite prince or princess.”

The cost to attend is $6 per person, and skate rental is included. Patrons under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older at all times.

The fun doesn’t stop there, as the holiday season ushers in several special sessions at the ice rink. Other festive events include:

  • November 23 and 25: Thanksgiving sessions
  • December 11: Whoville Skate, featuring appearances of the Grinch and Santa Claus
  • December 19-23, 26-29, and 30: Holiday sessions
  • December 31: New year’s Eve Glow Skate, featuring a live DJ, glow sticks, and party supplies

Times and costs for each event vary by date, and skate aids are available except for glow-in-the-dark events.
