Registration is open for Owensboro Parks & Recreation’s Little Spikers Youth Instructional Volleyball League. The league acquaints young players with the sport and teaches fundamentals.

Little Spikers is for 3rd-6th grade male and female participants and costs $100 per player. The league begins February 12. Players will practice every Sunday and Wednesday or Thursday, depending on team assignment. Players show what they learn on Saturdays during scheduled matches. The season will end with a single-elimination tournament.

This year the Parks Department is partnering with Kentuckiana Skills Academy and Brescia University’s Volleyball team to lead the practices and coach the teams. All games and practices will take place at the Owensboro Parks & Recreation Administrative Center at 1530 McJohnson Avenue.

“In today’s society, sport is the number one way for kids to develop physically, emotionally and socially. This program will be a great opportunity to be introduced to the growing sport of volleyball,” said Steve Howard of Kentuckiana Skills Academy.

Register by calling 270-687-8700 or visiting owensboroparks.org.  The registration deadline is January 27.
