The two Owensboro Ritzy’s are celebrating 25 days of Christmas through special giveaways leading up to the holiday. Daily, a random patron at either location will receive a $10 gift certificate for use during a future visit.

The marketing manager for the restaurant, Nick Gray, said the restaurant has always wanted to put its own spin on the 25 days leading up to Christmas.

“So much of the holiday season is built around the 25 days of Christmas and the month of December,” he said. “We wanted to figure out a way to bring the Christmas spirit to Owensboro, and we thought what better way than free Ritzy’s.”

Gray added that the daily drawing is entirely random, giving every customer an equal chance of winning.

The two Ritzy’s in town are locally owned and operated and celebrated 25 years in Owensboro this year. The establishment offers its spin on burgers, hotdogs, chicken, chili, and, last but not least, ice cream.

Gray said ice cream sales never dip at Ritzy’s despite the colder weather. Restaurant employees make the ice cream by hand at the Frederica Street location daily, offering holiday-themed treats during the winter months.

The restaurant also serves its version of chili, resembling Cincinnati chili served over spaghetti noodles with various topping options. Customers typically pair these with scratch-made grilled cheeses or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches lined with fresh strawberries and peanuts.

The original Ritzy’s is near the corner of Southtown and Frederica streets, while the second location is at the intersection of KY 54 and Thruston Dermont Road. Gray said the KY 54 site provides the perfect starting or stopping point when visiting the Stonegate neighborhood to look at Christmas lights.
