Construction has begun on a shelter at Moneta Sleet Jr. Park, and Director of City Engineering Kevin Collignon said it should only take a couple of weeks to complete.
This decision to add a shelter came during the same time city officials approved renaming the park — previously called Max Rhoads Park. That happened during Fall 2022.
The shelter is planned to be a 16’x16′ roofed-off structure and is currently not anticipated to be screened off at this time.
Commissioner Pamela Smith-Wright said that she would be interested in getting a screen for the shelter installed sometime in the future.
