The Issac Sterett Adventure Foundation announced Tuesday it has received a gift of property, located at 1010 Allen Street. What will be known as the Center for Good Works will be used to promote collaboration, partnership, and cost-sharing for nonprofit organizations in the community.

The 52,000-square-foot multi-use center will be utilized in a multitude of ways, with plans to offer event space, meeting rooms, conference rooms, classrooms, and more. The revenue generated through long-term lease opportunities and short-term rental of the space will be distributed back into the community through civic projects, according to ISAF Founder Katie Sterett.

Sterett said the Foundation believes nurturing partnerships of nonprofits within the community is a simple way for everyone to work in tandem, rather than compete.

“This gift is beyond generous, and our board is carefully considering how the property can best serve the needs of Owensboro and the surrounding region,” she said. “Our vision is to create a partnership with nonprofits to better serve the growing needs within our community and to stretch our resources through collaboration and cost-sharing.”

The vision of the Issac Sterett Adventure Foundation is to promote the well-being of the community through healthy life balance initiatives.

The building was originally built in the 1900s and began as a tobacco processing facility. In 2010, the building became the Centre for Business and Research. It later served as the birthplace of the Owensboro Innovation Academy, a project-based learning collaboration between local school systems.

The property was donated by Sally and Malcolm Bryant and family.

“The building’s rich history is an absolute inspiration for creating a new vision of good works in the nonprofit sector, and an honor for the Issac Sterett Adventure Foundation team,” Sterett said.
