The Whitesville Lions Club will host its annual Chili Supper and Pie Auction on April 21. Here’s how to donate a desert, plus what to know for those wanting to attend the event. The annual fundraiser supports local nonprofits Wendell Foster and Puzzle Pieces. A total of $20,000 was raised at the 2022 event.

Cathy Roby, Marketing Chairperson for the Whitesville Lions Club, said she and fellow club members are excited for this year’s auction.

“Our club is always honored to host this annual event to support two wonderful organizations. Last year’s auction was exciting and entertaining, especially when one of the donated cakes went for $1,500 and was then donated back to be auctioned off a second time,” Roby said. “It was crazy fun. An outpouring of love and support is seen in abundance at this fundraiser.”

The auction will begin at 6 p.m. at the Whitesville Senior Citizen Center, located at 10345 KY 54 in Whitesville. Chili, hot dogs, and drinks will be served at 5 p.m.

“Each year, we are honored to be a part of the Whitesville Lions Club Pie Auction,” said Amanda Owen, Executive Director at Puzzle Pieces. “The support we receive from the auction’s proceeds goes directly to fund programming for our 400+ clients. As a Whitesville native, I am proud of my hometown for making a difference in our community.”

Kara Howard, Vice President of Development and Community Engagement at Wendell Foster, added, “We are grateful for our long-standing relationship with the Whitesville Lions Club. For almost 20 years, their generosity has had a significant impact on Wendell Foster. Proceeds from this event help us provide over 75,000 services to children and adults with disabilities.”

Attendees can expect a variety of sweets up for auction. Last year’s donations included Monastery pecan pies made by the Passionist Nuns, key lime pies, dirt cakes, cupcakes, a donut cake, and various other desserts. Each Lions Club member brings a dessert, and numerous residents from the Whitesville community also donate baked goods.

Donated cakes, pies, and other desserts can be delivered before 4 p.m. on the day of the auction to the Whitesville Senior Citizen Center. For more information, contact Roby at 270-316-6914.
