Amanda Rogers, Director of Owensboro Parks and Recreation, recently said she hopes to start accepting bids for the Cravens Pool renovation project in June. She thinks the renovations could be complete next year.

Rogers recently said they are finalizing the designs and drafting construction documents. She said project leaders are ensuring the pool will not only be well-designed but also economically efficient for the City in the long run.

“We have one that we really like, but we want to make sure that some of the elements that were included in that design would be cost-effective,” Rogers said.

Rogers hopes the bidding process will begin in the middle of June.

“Once that bids out, we would anticipate that [hopefully] there should not be an issue with getting construction completed next year. In showing [City Manager Nate Pagan] where we’re at with the proposed design, I’m really excited about what we’re putting together to provide that community,” Rogers said.

She indicated that the current proposed design expands the pool’s footprint, adds shaded amenities, and makes the pool more interactive and enjoyable.
