Free Fishing Weekend, offered by the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, returns statewide this Saturday-Sunday. In Daviess County, Take a Kid Fishing Day will be hosted on Satuday at Panther Creek Park.

During Free Fishing Weekend, licenses and permits will not be required to fish in all of Kentucky’s lakes, streams, and rivers. All other size and number limits still apply.

“We would invite you June 3 and June 4 to be able to come out, bring your family, and enjoy the lakes,” said Ross Lee, director of Daviess County Parks and Recreation. “They’re going to be freshly stocked with catfish.”

Those looking to attend the Take a Kid Fishing event can meet at the Feather Landing Shelter for registration at 8 a.m., fishing at 9 a.m., and door prizes and a free lunch at 11 a.m.

A grand prize will also be given out for whoever catches the tagged fish.

Limited bait and fishing poles are available, so attendees are highly encouraged to bring their own.

To preregister for the event, call 270-685-1707 Extension 3. More information about Free Fishing Weekend and Take a Kid Fishing Day can be found in the links.
