For parents wanting additional information about the school system and specific school their children attend, or for anyone interested in comparing different schools and school districts across the state of Kentucky, an upgraded “Report Card’ is now available for Daviess County Public Schools, Owensboro Catholic Schools and Owensboro Public Schools.

Report cards contain details about individual schools in the area, as well as details regarding local school districts. Those interested can now view this information online.

Jared Revlett, public information officer for OPS says it’s beneficial for those wanting or needing information to have online access to these report cards.

“The school report card has been around for several years. Kentucky launched one that’s more user-friendly,” Revlett said. “It breaks everything down into categories. You can compare it to schools across the state.”

DCPS Public Information Officer Lora Wimsatt listed some of the topics that can be researched via report cards, including school enrollment, how students have performed on Kentucky core content and national norm-referenced tests, information about teacher qualifications, parental involvement, extracurricular activities and awards and recognitions.

Aside from the aforementioned topics that can be researched, Revlett said the report cards provide details about ACT scores and free and reduced lunch programs across the state.

The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) 2017-2018 report cards can be accessed by visiting their website where a menu of options is available. To view the most recent data for individual schools, select “School Report Card Main Landing Page” or “Proficiency Dashboard,” then use the drop-down arrows to select the district or individual school. Other school districts in the state can also be accessed.

DCPS report cards can also be accessed by visiting www.dcps.org and clicking on either the “Schools,” “Parents” or “Community” tabs in the red menu bar, then selecting “District and School Report Cards.” Links are also available for a “Student/Parent Portal” or “Research Data.”

Archived report cards are also available online for school years between beginning with 2013-2014 and can be accessed by selecting the “Prior School Report Cards” button on the website.

Jana Beth Francis, DCPS assistant superintendent for teaching and learning said the report cards are a great method for those interested in learning more about, not only DCPS schools, but how DCPS schools compare to those across the country.

“They provide an overview of key metrics of successful schools that are fairly common across the country,” Francis said. “For anyone wanting to learn more about our schools, the report cards are a great starting point.”
