The Owensboro Innovation Academy has received a $10,000 grant from the AT&T Foundation. The grant is part of the AT&T Aspire program that creates connections that drive innovation in education to connect students and communities across America.

“Through AT&T Aspire, we are investing in students today – at home, in the classroom, at work – to prepare them for success tomorrow,” said Robin Czarmopys, AT&T Area Manager of Philanthropy in a letter to the OPS Foundation for Excellence. “We see tremendous value in your education program and are pleased to award this grant in the amount of $10,000”

The grant funds will be used to support the robotics team for the students at Owensboro Innovation Academy. By upgrading their robotics materials, the program at OIA will continue to build on their recent success and engage in solving real-world problems. The grant will also provide them the opportunity to compete in state, national and world competitions against other high school robotics teams.

“This grant is really going to take our program to the next level,” said Stephanie Gray, facilitator at Owensboro Innovation Academy. “Our students have shown a real passion for robotics and have been successful in several regional and state competitions already. This will allow them the opportunity to compete with better equipment against other schools with top robotics programs across the country.”
