Estes Elementary School principal, Shari Holzmeyer, has resigned to accept the same position at Niagara Elementary in Henderson, Kentucky. Owensboro Public Schools Superintendent, Dr. Nick Brake, has
named current assistant principal, Ryan Williams, as interim principal of Estes Elementary.

Holzmeyer served as principal of Estes for 11 years and was a driving force in building up relationships between families and the school to create an atmosphere where parents are directly involved in their student’s education.

“I am so thankful for the relationships and bonds that I have developed throughout the past 11 years with Estes students, families and staff members,” said Holzmeyer. “This was a very tough decision, but one that will allow me to be closer to my family and my children, as I have one beginning middle school in the Newburgh area next year.”

Dr. Brake has named Ryan Williams the interim principal and a permanent search for Holzmeyer’s successor will take place in the upcoming winter or spring.

“Shari has been a great mentor to me for the past several years,” said Williams. “I hate to see her go, but I’m happy that this move will allow her to be closer to her family. She has accomplished so much here at Estes and I look forward to picking up the torch and continuing that success.

“Ryan has been an outstanding assistant principal for several years at Estes,” said Brake. “He will do a phenomenal job continuing the success and growth the school has seen in recent years.”

Holzmeyer will fulfill the remainder of her current contract and Williams will assume duties as interim principal effective July 1, 2019.
