Both the Owensboro Public Schools and the Daviess County Public Schools Boards of Education approved academic calendars for the 2020-2021 school years.

OPS Chief Academic Officer Matthew Constant said the district tried to sync their calendar with surrounding counties, particularly DCPS, and with Owensboro Community & Technical College with a number of OPS students taking dual credit classes.

Both OPS and DCPS will start the next academic year on Aug. 12, 2020 and fall, Christmas and spring breaks align for both districts.

“We have better attendance when our calendar matches County, when we sync with County,” said Board Vice Chair Melissa Decker.
