Olivia Schilke has been named as the new Owensboro Catholic Middle School principal, effective mid-July. Schilke replaces Sara Guth, who recently left to pursue a career outside of education.

Schilke has seven years of experience in the education field, including four years at Owensboro Middle School South. She most recently worked at the OCS K-3 Campus.

She has extensive training and experience in writing, personalized learning in the digital classroom, Google training, Leader in Me, and piloted NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards).

“I am excited and honored to serve the OCMS family,” Schilke said. “As a product of the Owensboro Catholic School System, I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and working together to better our students and their futures.”

Tom Lilly, president of OCS, said they have been looking to advance Schilke for several years now.

“She has demonstrated the skills that we look for when trying to set our leadership team — she is intelligent and dedicated to furthering the mission of OCS,” Lilly said.

Schilke holds an Education Administration and Principalship Masters from the University of Cumberland as well as a Master’s in teacher leadership. She graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education.

“As impressed as we have been with her academic knowledge and background, we have been just as impressed with her faith knowledge, spirituality, and devout practice of her Catholic faith,” said Fr. Pat Reynolds, Episcopal Vicar for OCS. “It is a pleasure to welcome her as a leader in the OCS family.”

Olivia and Preston Schilke are parishioners at Blessed Mother and they have two children, Kate and Owen.
