Trinity High School has kicked off a half-pot raffle with a goal of $100,000 — meaning the winning ticket holder would take home $50,000. Officials said the fundraiser is crucial this year because other annual events have been cancelled in recent months.

Tickets are $2 each, and the drawing will be held Feb. 6. They are available to purchase at trinityhs.com and at the following locations:

  • Whitesville City Hall, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Trinity High School, 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
  • Whitesville Community Credit Union, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • St. Mary Parish Office, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Whitesville Mercantile, 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • St. Mary of the Woods School, 7:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

“Fundraising is important to Trinity High School as is the case for most private schools,” said Anna McDaniel, Director of Advancement and Admissions at THS and St. Mary. “We usually do a big raffle every year along with many other fundraisers. We have raffled new vehicles and cash prizes in the past.”

Trinity typically hosts social events, but due to COVID-19 they have had to completely rethink the way they held fundraisers.

“We have had to cancel events like our Thanksgiving social and the Alumni BBQ, due to the gathering restrictions,” McDaniel said. “A half-pot raffle allows us to continue to fundraise without gathering.”
