Audubon Elementary School Principal Caleb York has been named the next Daviess County Public Schools District Student Services Coordinator, effective July 1.

York’s main responsibilities will involve coordinating support services to schools, focusing on meeting the needs of the whole child (academic, emotional, and social). York will work closely with Assistant Superintendent for Human Services Amy Shutt to meet the unique needs of each DCPS school as they implement the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).

York will also provide professional learning and coaching to DCPS teams, focusing on the behavioral and social and emotional health of all students.

York said he is excited to begin his new responsibilities and believes his strong background in classroom and administrative leadership has prepared him to serve all members of the DCPS district.

“My goal as an educator has always been to equip students with the tools and skills they need to be successful,” he said. “As I transition into this role, I look forward to supporting families, schools, administrators and school staff as we all work together to prepare students for success in the classroom and in life.”

York has served as principal at Audubon since 2014. Prior to that, he served as the interim principal, assistant principal and staff developer at Audubon. He also previously served as the DCPS district achievement gap coordinator, assisting schools in addressing disparities in academic performance between groups of students. Before joining DCPS in 2008, York taught at Estes Elementary School for eight years.

York graduated from Daviess County High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Kentucky University, a master’s degree in education and Rank I in administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. He has an education specialist degree from the University of the Cumberlands, where he is currently working toward a doctoral degree.

“Caleb York’s background and experience will be a priceless addition to the district in this new role,” said DCPS Superintendent Matt Robbins.

Shutt said she is thrilled to add York to the human services team.

“In this new role, Mr. York will focus on providing support to our schools as we strive to meet the individual needs of our students,” she said. “Mr. York is a whole child-focused educator who has a passion for seeing every student be the best version of themselves. He will coordinate the Family Resource and Youth Service Centers (FRYSC) and other district teams that focus on meeting the behavior and social-emotional needs in our schools. With Mr. York’s administrative experience, he will be an outstanding asset to our schools as they maximize resources to put Kids First.”

The School-Based Decision Making Council of Audubon Elementary School has scheduled a series of special meetings to begin the principal selection process.
