Owensboro and Daviess County public school districts received their “report cards” that reflect performance in state assessment results, postsecondary readiness and more. While there were a small handful of areas indicating either high or low performance, the results for both districts overwhelmingly were in the middle category — in line with the state average.

OPS Superintendent Matthew Constant and DCPS Superintendent Matt Robbins both generally said after the last two years where instruction was affected by COVID, they expected their schools to have some areas to work on. Both said their districts have measures in place to closely monitor students and work toward bring up their performance across the board.

Data was compiled at the end of the 2021-22 school year, when Kentucky administered new assessments, implemented a new accountability system and introduced a new School Report Card dashboard.

The full results — which can be viewed by district or by individual school — can be found at kyschoolreportcard.com.

Colors on dials indicate the overall performance rating of the school, district, and state. Overall

performance ratings are reported with five color levels: Red (Very Low), Orange (Low), Yellow (Middle), Green (High), Blue (Very High).

Additionally, schools may have a federal classification of Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI). That classification is given when one or more of the same subgroups (such as English Language learners, Latino population, students with disabilities) performs as poorly as all students in any of the lowest performing 5% of schools by level (elementary, middle, or high school) based on the 2021-22 data only.

Upon identification, TSI schools must revise their Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP) to include components of turnaround leadership development and support, the identification of critical resource inequities, evidence-based interventions, and any additional actions that address the causes of consistently underperforming subgroups of students.

The overview of local schools’ performance is summarized below. To see more detailed information and results, visit kyschoolreportcard.com.
