College View Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society is hosting Vendor Palooza, one of its major fundraisers for pediatric cancer research. A variety of vendors have been invited to the event for community goers to purchase holiday items.

The event will be held on Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the CVMS gym.

“We will have woodworking, candles, soaps, shirts, cups, 3D-printed items and sweet treats, among other items,” said Mendy Rue, one of the NJHS sponsors.

Rue came up with the idea of hosting a vendor event as a fundraiser to allow the community to have an opportunity to view local items while also raising money for Dance Red and Dance Blue, the two organizations that benefit from various palooza fundraisers.

“Club sponsors have been organizing the event with the students to make it great,” Rue said. “College View has raised several thousand dollars in the past, but this year we want to raise even more because our money is split between Dance Blue and Dance Red.”

College View students attend Apollo and Daviess County High Schools, each supporting pediatric cancer through fundraisers throughout the year.

“Students who go on to Apollo support Dance Blue for University of Kentucky’s Children’s Hospital, while students who attend Daviess County have the opportunity to Raise Red, which supports Norton Children’s Hospital Cancer Institute,” Rue said.

Those who attend will be greeted by NJHS student volunteers who will collect entrance fees and donations for the event. Students will also have a gift-wrapping station for those that want gifts wrapped on-site.

The entrance fee is five dollars per person and CVMS is located at 5061 New Hartford Road.
