The Daviess County and Owensboro public school boards on Thursday approved their respective proposed academic calendars for the 2023-2024 school years. School is scheduled to begin August 9 and end May 20.

- August 9: First day for students
- September 4: Labor Day
- September 22: Professional Day (No school for students) (DCPS only)
- October 9-13: Fall Break
- November 7: Election Day (No school for students)
- November 22-24: Thanksgiving Break
- December 18-January 2: Winter Break
- January 15: MLK, Jr. Day (No school for students)
- February 2: Professional Day (No school for students) (OPS only)
- February 19: Parent/teacher conference (No school for students)
- March 29-April 5: Spring Break
- May 20: Last day for students
Makeup days for DCPS will take place in the following order: February 19, May 22-24, May 28-31, June 3-4.
Makeup days for OPS will take place in the following order: May 22-24, May 28-29.
