A new Holy Family mural now welcomes students, faculty, and guests as they enter the Owensboro Catholic Middle School campus.

“At Owensboro Catholic Middle School, we desire for our students, staff, and curriculum to exude our faith as well as the physical building,” said  Principal Olivia Schilke. “The Holy Family is the patron of our school, and they watch over us and serve as a guide for all we do here at OCMS; therefore, we found it fitting that they be one of the first images our guests see as they enter the building.”

The mural was painted by Franci Gilles and the process was documented and sent to OCMS families each day. The mural was blessed and dedicated by Fr. Pat Reynolds, with several other priests from the Diocese of Owensboro in attendance.

According to a release, “each Owensboro Catholic Schools campus is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and a significant doctrine of our faith: K-3 is dedicated to the Annunciation; 4-6 is dedicated to the Immaculate Conception; OCMS is dedicated to the Holy Family; and OCHS is dedicated to the Assumption.”

Schilke added that the mural is a “very powerful visual reminder of how our faith intersects with everything we do every day.”
