Owensboro Community & Technical College is partnering with local electrical businesses to offer a unique apprenticeship program in Electrical Technology. Participating students will receive on-the-job training while earning an associate degree. An open house will be held this month for those interested in learning more.
Interested students can attend an open house event on March 23 at 5:30 p.m. in OCTC’s Advanced Technology Center at 4800 New Hartford Road.
All prospective student participants, interested community members, and electrical companies are invited to attend. Local electrical companies participating in the apprenticeship program will be on hand at the recruitment event to discuss electrical career opportunities and the benefits of program participation.
In addition, OCTC staff will be available to assist and answer questions related to program applications, college enrollment requirements, and federal financial aid opportunities.
Upon completing the four-year electrical apprenticeship program, students earn an associate degree in Applied Science in Electrical Technology – Construction Track and sit for the electrical journeyman’s license exam.
Prospective employer partners include Norman King Electric, Westerfield Electric and Lark Electric.
Interested applicants must be high school graduates (or equivalency) willing to work full-time with their sponsoring company while attending class twice per week in the evening.
