Andrew Self has been named the next principal at Newton Parrish Elementary School. He will replace Alicia Storm, who has accepted a position as the district’s Director of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.

Self has served as an assistant principal at Owensboro High School since 2021 after spending 1 year as the Dean of Students at Daviess County High School. Prior to his time in high school administration, Self served as the assistant principal of Hanson Elementary School in Hopkins County from 2016-2020. He began his career as a teacher at Madisonville-North Hopkins High School, where he served from 2010-2016.

“I am really excited to have the opportunity to continue the success at Newton Parrish Elementary” Self said. “I’m thankful for the committee allowing me to have the opportunity to work with the incredible staff at Newton Parrish and I look forward to this new chapter.”

Owensboro Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Matthew Constant said Self’s experience in a variety of different levels of education is something that will make the transition smooth for him.

“Andrew has really proven himself to be a capable leader not only at Owensboro High School, but in his previous stops at Hanson and Madisonville-North Hopkins,” said Constant. “I am excited to see his passion for the individual student. His personal mission fits so nicely with what Newton Parrish was looking for and what the entire district seeks as well.”

Self will officially take over the role of principal at Newton Parrish on July 1, 2023.
